Captain Marvel Vol. 1: Rise of Alpha Flight by Michele Fazekas, Tara Butters, Kris Anka (Illustrator), Felipe Smith (Illustrator)

28118839Captain Marvel is back and has a new position as the leader of the newly formed Alpha Flight space program! Captain Marvel Volume 1: Rise of Alpha Flight (Captain Marvel 1-5) by Michaele Fazekas and Tara Butters, opens with Captain Marvel AKA Carol Danvers is headed to space to orbit the Earth as head of Alpha Flight, Earth’s first line of threats against extraterrestrial threats. This new position requires Carol to be both a soldier and a diplomat, but she would rather get things done herself then play with diplomacy.

Michele Fazekas and Tara Butters make their comic book debut with Captain Marvel Volume 1: Rise of Alpha Flight. Previously, the pair had worked for the Marvel’s Agent Carter television series, and are well equipped to write amazing story lines for some kick-butt women. Even though we do not get Captain Marvel’s backstory in this volume, Fazekas and Butters still give Captain Marvel a full character. Carol is strong, commanding, and truly Earth’s Mightiest Hero. While this is not the story we will be seeing in the Captain Marvel movie, due out in March of 2019, Captain Marvel Volume 1: Rise of Alpha Flight is still worth reading in preparation for the movie.

Additionally, the Captain Marvel Volume 1: Rise of Alpha Flight comic would be nothing without the Kris Anka and Felipe Smith illustrating the story. The pair bring plenty of color and detail in the comic, making it exciting, engaging and adding to the Captain Marvel story. Check out some images from the comic below.
